IISF was honoured to take part in the General Assembly meeting of the World Congress of Russian Jewry (WCRJ), which took place in Jerusalem, May 21st-22nd, and was dedicated to Israel' s 60th anniversary.
Words of '"mazal tov" (good luck), "shalom" ( doesn't need translation), and "hazlaha" (success) were heard from the video addresses of Hillary Clinton, US Democratic presidential candidate, Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York, Sergey Mironov, Chairman of Russia's Council of Federations, and many other dignitaries, that sent their greetings to the WCRJ and its president, Boris Spiegel, or came to the venue, Jerusalem's Congress Hall, to express them in person. This force to be reckoned with was further strengthened by Zeev Bielsky, Jewish Agency Chairman, Yakov Edri, Minister of Absorption, Avigdor Lieberman, Chairman of the Israel Our Home party, Benyamin Netaniahu, former Prime Minister and currently Chairman of the Likud, and other prominent Israeli politicians and social activists. About 3000 members and guests from 31 countries converged on our historic capital to send the world a message: "Strong Israel – Strong Diaspora" and to discuss the essential needs and goals of Russian Jewry as part of world Jewry in Israel and overseas. We would like to thank Leonid Litinetsky, one of the organizers and leader of the WCRJ's World Business Club, for the invitation, and we are looking forward to contributing to the message sent out by the Congress.
