Vladi Bikanov talks about his taking part in World Cup short track series

-Vladi, in how many World Cup series have you taken part so far this autumn?
-I have been to Holland, Italy, Japan and China.
-You have traveled over half the world. Which place made the most vivid impression on you?
-Japan. Osaka was simply beautiful.
-Do you think you have done enough?
-Any result can be improved. But my results are considerably better than they were last year. Because of the war in the North we were off the ice for long periods of time. This year we are back into our training routine, and our new coach is working hard on making our results better.
-What is your overall result after the 4 series?
-I was 45 th out of 90 competitors.
-A pretty good result for us. We are the happy medium, quoting King Solomon (or at least this phrase is attributed to him).
-Which start was the easiest for you?
-The first and the last ones. The first was easy because I attacked it with renewed energy, and the last one was easy because I got into the competition rut, so to say.
-Is it possible? Can one hold in the competition nerves?
-Not exactly. But one can control them better with time and training.
-I heard you have a knee problem now.
-That's true. We are training several hours a day, and it's beginning to have its toll. But that's part of the sport.
-What competition is next?
-Junior Europeans and Worlds in 2008.
-Talk to you after that. Good luck!
