Israelis at junior ice skating championships

Sergei Kotov, Alexandra and Roman Zaretsky, and Keren Shua Haim are on the ice at the World Junior Figure Skating championships, which began Monday and continue through March 2 at Ostrava in the Czech Republic.

On Monday, Kotov, in his section of the Free Skate qualifying, managed 11th place of 23 competitors, a somewhat surprising finish considering the fact that he was delayed at the Russian border, arriving just in time and without any practice during the days leading up the event. The first 15 in each of the two sections goes through to the Short Program.
