Chait, Saknovski take second in Skate Canada
By Lionel Gaffen

JERUSALEM (November 5) - A bevy of judges awarded Israeli ice dancers Galit Chait and Sergei Saknovski a number of 5.8s in their final number, the Free Dance, but they still had to settle for second place at the Skate Canada Grand Prix Event in Saskatoon, Canada last night.

Shae-Lyne Bourne and Victor Kraatz won first place, while Isabelle Delobel and Olivier Schoenfelder took third, holding on to the same positions they hold entering the last day of the competition.

"Galit and Sergei were very happy with the scores they received, and were extremely pleased to have taken the second spot in such a convincing manner," Israel Ice Skating Federation president Yossi Goldberg told The Jerusalem Post over the phone from Saskatoon.

"The crowd gave them a very warm reception, and were quite taken with their Free Dance, which was a medley of Hebrew and Jewish songs, containing parts of "My Yiddishe Mama," "Heivenu Shalom Aleichem" and "Hava Nagila, "which brought a rousing response from the crowd," he said.

Skate Canada is one of the six Grand Prix of Figure Skating events, under the auspices of the International Skating Union.

It leads to the Grand Prix Final, which will be held next month in Ontario and will be a prelude to the Olympic Games, which take place in February
