Husband Alfred Korytek and wife Clara Belousovksy – a family affair
Coaches Alfred Korotyk and Clara Belousovsky have been working with the IISF since 2003. They instruct figure skaters of ages 12-18, who have been taking part in the national and international events, such as the Junior Worlds. Among their trainees is Evgeny Krasnopolsky, the 3-time Israel's National Junior Champion.
I joined them for a conversation to get some insight into what they think of the coaching profession:
Q: Clara and Alfred, what do you consider the most important character trait of a coach?
A: A coach has to be professional and patient.
Q: And what is the most important character trait an athlete must have?
A: An athlete must desire to win!
Q: What would you like to improve in the figure skating profession?
A: The training sessions must occur at regular hours – it helps streamline them and achieve better results.
Q: We are trying to solve here the enigma of the beauty of figure skating. Can you help us?
A: Well, it's a hard question. Everything in figure skating is just beautiful! Can you define beauty?
-You are right. Some things are better off if inexplicable. Let's leave the enigma for everybody to decide for him or herself. Thank you for your time. We are wishing you luck and more achievements.
