Alexandra and Roman Zaretsky are in second place after both the compulsory and original dances performed at the 41st Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf, Germany – ISU Olympic qualifying event for the remaining berths in Vancouver 2010.

The duo received 32.34 points for their compulsory Tango Romantica performance (TES 17.30/ PCS 15.04). . Tango Romantica was put together by the legendary coach Elena Chaikovskaia in the 70s specifically for the first ice dance Olympic champions Lyudmila Pakhomova and Alexander Gorshkov and is considered one of the most difficult compulsory dances. Alexandra and Roman held on to their silver medal position in the original dance skated to the robust rhythms of Hava Nagila (Jewish folk dance)  with a  score  of 52.71 (TES 27.20/PCS 25.51), which gives them a more than 5-point lead over their immediate contenders going into the free dance on Saturday. Meryl Davis and Charlie White of Team USA are leading the international field of 16 ice dance duos from Russia, Hungary, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, China, and other countries.

Maxim Shipov is in the 25th position after the men’s short programme with 45.89 points (TES 24.04/PCS 22.85) among the field of 32 competitors from 32 countries. Two-time World Champion Stephane Lambiel is leading with 77.45 points.
